Child Car Seat Safety For Kids
1. An obvious tip is that your child needs to be in a child travel seat that it suitable for their weight/size.
2. Always read the full manufacturers instruction booklet (very important) before you try to install the baby travel seat. You should follow the booklet step by step.
3. Take your time when installing your little ones child car seat. Taking your time will result in a more secure installation of the infant travel seat.
4. Choose the safest position possible for the baby travel seat to be installed to. The centre of the back seats is the safest place in your car for your child but you can only use this position of the car if the child travel seat has been approved for use with the style of seat belt that you have for that position of your vehicle.
The position which is the next safest is the left side rear seat of the car because it is on the opposite side of vehicles on the road. The next best place is the right side of the back of the car which is the side that is closer to the traffic.
5. You should not install your child's rear facing seat in the front seat of the car if the airbag is live as it is dangerous and against the law to do this. It is still best for the rear facing infant seat to be in the rear of the car even when you have switched the front seat airbag off.
6. Slip a couple of fingers between your infant and the seats harness to check if it is tight. There should only be space for one or two fingers.
7. To tighten your little ones child car seat so it is secure, tighten the seat belt by pulling on it and test the movement of the seat to check if it is secure.
